KU Starlights is designed for girls in 3rd–6th grade who want to learn volleyball, improve their skills, and have fun in a positive, encouraging environment.
In our year-round monthly membership academy, players attend weekly practices focused on skill development, teamwork, and game play, while also having the opportunity to earn a spot on a Competitive Starlights team through evaluations if they're ready for additional training and tournament competition.
Whether your athlete is just getting started or dreaming of club volleyball someday, Starlights provides the perfect pathway.

KU Starlights Summer Sessions are designed to help young athletes build confidence, develop volleyball fundamentals, and stay active in a fun and encouraging environment throughout the summer. With training geared toward agility, skill development, and game-play experience, our summer programming is perfect for beginners and returning players looking to continue growing their love for the game.
July/August Skills + Competition Session
Athletes will participate in:
- Advanced skill training
- Team drills
- Game play instruction
- Competition simulations
- Scrimmage-style play
- Court movement & communication training
- Optional Registration for Serving Add-on before each practice

Katy United offers a clear development pathway so players can continue growing as they gain confidence and experience.

Our Academies are "Memberships" and under the Membership Tab on the website. Whether your athlete is just getting started or ready for more competition, there's a program designed just for her.
KU STARLIGHTS EVALUATION DAYS
🌟 Evaluation Days (3rd-6th)
Evaluation Days celebrate each player's progress while helping coaches place athletes in the program where they'll be most successful.
Like advancing in gymnastics or earning a new martial arts belt, evaluations recognize growth—not perfection.
Every player receives an Evaluation Certificate, and some may advance into Starlights Academy or Competitive Starlights.
Our goal is never to cut players—it's to help every athlete continue growing with confidence.
Register for ONE fall evaluation date that works best for your family.

COMPETITIVE STARLIGHTS (5th- 6th)
Competitive KU Starlights is designed for athletes ready for more advanced training and competition. Players are selected through evaluations and participate in 15-week seasons featuring twice-weekly practices, tournaments, team development, and advanced skill instruction.
The program provides an excellent bridge to junior high volleyball by building stronger fundamentals, game knowledge, confidence, and competitive experience—all while maintaining the fun, encouraging culture that makes Starlights special.
Players interested in Competitive KU Starlights must attend an evaluation.

Competitive Starlights 15 Week Seasons
If emailed an offer to play with our competitive team, and you accept the offer, you are registering your player for the 15 week season.
Fall 15-Week Season
September 8 – December 17 (no practice during Thanksgiving week)
Tuesday / Thursday 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Fee: $995.00 (Team Commitment Deposit $395.00, Oct installment $300, Nov installment $300)

Winter 15-Week Season
Dates: January 12 - April 29 (no practices during Spring Break)

UNIFORM PACKAGE (15-wk players Only)
Uniform packages are purchased separately for Competitive Starlights.
Fee: $125
Players without a current Starlights uniform package will purchase the required 4-piece package during registration.
Experienced Coaching You Can Trust
Starlights athletes are coached by experienced, USAV-certified coaches who are passionate about helping young athletes learn, grow, and love the game.
All coaches complete:
- SafeSport training
- Background checks
- Misconduct awareness education
Families can feel confident knowing their athletes are learning in a safe, positive, and supportive environment.
Refund & Cancellation Policy
KU Starlights Academy & Mini-Stars Refund Policy
At Katy United, we understand that plans can change. To help us properly staff and plan for our programs, we have established the following refund policy:
• Cancellations made more than one week prior to the player's start date are eligible for a refund of the membership fee, minus a $50 administrative fee.
• Cancellations made within one week of the player's start date are NOT eligible for a refund of the membership fee.
• Parents may cancel their KU Starlights Academy or Mini-Stars membership at any time by notifying Tiffany Dagley in writing at TiffanyD@katyunited.com
• Upon cancellation, all future auto-payments will be discontinued, and no additional charges will be processed.
• No refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for previously billed membership payments, missed practices, or unused program participation.
• If Katy United is unable to hold a scheduled program due to unforeseen circumstances, Katy United will determine whether a makeup session, credit, or alternative accommodation will be provided.
This policy allows us to maintain appropriate staffing, facility scheduling, and program quality while providing flexibility for participating families.
KU Competitive Starlights Refund Policy
Competitive Starlights teams are formed through an evaluation and team placement process that requires advance planning, staffing, scheduling, and tournament commitments.
• The Competitive Starlights Team Commitment Deposit fee is non-refundable.
• If a player chooses not to participate after paying the deposit, the account holder must notify Tiffany Dagley in writing at TiffanyD@katyunited.com.
• Upon notification, the player will be removed from the program and all future scheduled payments will be discontinued.
• The deposit fee will be retained, and no refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for the registration fee.
• No refunds or credits will be issued for missed practices, tournaments, or team activities.
This policy allows Katy United to maintain roster stability and meet coaching, facility, and tournament commitments for all Competitive Starlights teams.
