KU Starlights (3rd - 6th)

Katy United Starlights and Mini-Stars is a fun and encouraging volleyball development program for girls in Kinder-6th grade. Whether your athlete is brand new to volleyball or continuing to grow her skills, KU Starlights focuses on building confidence, teaching fundamentals, and helping players develop a love for the game in a positive team environment.

With volleyball becoming increasingly popular and competitive in the Katy area, KU Starlights helps athletes build a strong foundation through structured coaching, skill development, and age-appropriate game play opportunities, all while keeping the experience fun and engaging.

Starlights: 3rd - 6th graders

Mini-Stars: K - 2nd graders

KU Starlights Summer Sessions are designed to help young athletes build confidence, develop volleyball fundamentals, and stay active in a fun and encouraging environment throughout the summer. With training geared toward agility, skill development, and game-play experience, our summer programming is perfect for beginners and returning players looking to continue growing their love for the game.

Mini Stars: Kindergarten–2nd Grade

• 55-minute high-energy training sessions

• Fun, age-appropriate introduction to volleyball

• Focus on movement, coordination, balance, and overall athletic development

• Learn foundational volleyball skills, including passing, serving, hitting, and communication.

• Positive and encouraging environment for beginner athletes

• Designed to build confidence, friendships, and a love for the game

• Great starting point for future Starlights and club volleyball players

From Mini-Stars Academy to Starlights Academy to Competitive Starlights, Katy United provides a developmental pathway designed to help players build confidence, learn the game, and continue growing their skills in a fun and encouraging environment

Whether your player is brand new to volleyball or ready for a more competitive experience, KU Starlights provides a positive, encouraging environment where players can learn, grow, and develop a lifelong love for the game.

KU STARLIGHTS ACADEMY (monthly membership)

Starlights Academy is a year-round volleyball development program for players in 3rd–6th grade who want to learn, improve, and stay active in a fun and positive environment. Players will attend weekly practices focused on skill development, movement, teamwork, game understanding, and confidence-building.

Whether your player is brand new to volleyball or continuing to develop her skills, the KU Starlights Academy provides a consistent pathway for growth throughout the year.

Developmental Scrimmages Dates

Schedule Notice: No practices will be held during Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Year's Break, or Spring Break. To make up for these holiday breaks, an additional Thursday practice will be scheduled either the week before or the week after the holiday. Make-up dates will be announced in advance and are considered regular program dates. No credits or refunds will be issued for missed make-up practices.

MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP DETAILS

Enrollment in Mini-Stars Academy and KU Starlights Academy is offered through a recurring monthly membership. Upon registration, your first month's membership fee will be charged immediately. Future membership payments will be automatically processed on the same day of each month as your original registration date. Families may cancel their membership at any time by providing written notice. Upon cancellation, future auto-payments will be discontinued and no additional charges will be processed. Please refer to the Refund & Cancellation Policy below for complete details.

Players interested in Competitive KU Starlights must attend an evaluation. Evaluation Day is designed to celebrate player growth and development while helping families better understand their player's current skill level and next steps in her volleyball journey. All participants will receive an evaluation certificate, and players who demonstrate readiness for the increased training, competition, and commitment of Competitive KU Starlights will receive a team offer following evaluations.

Competitive KU Starlights is designed for players who are ready for increased training, team commitment, and competition. Players are placed on teams through an evaluation process and participate in structured 15-week seasons that include twice-weekly practices, tournament competition, team development, and advanced skill training.

Competitive KU Starlights serves as an excellent stepping stone to junior high volleyball. Players gain valuable game experience, develop stronger volleyball fundamentals, learn team systems, and build the confidence needed to approach school tryouts prepared and ready to compete. This program bridges the gap between developmental volleyball and traditional club volleyball while maintaining the positive culture and supportive environment that makes Starlights unique.

Players interested in Competitive KU Starlights must attend an evaluation. Evaluation Day info is above.

Fall 15-Week Session

September 8 – December 17 (no practice during Thanksgiving week)

Tuesday / Thursday 5:30pm – 7:30pm

Fee: $995.00 (Team Commitment Deposit $395.00, Oct installment $300, Nov installment $300)

UNIFORM PACKAGE (15-wk Session Only)

Uniform packages are sold separately. Fee: $125

Players who do not already have a current KU Competitive Starlights uniform will need to purchase the 4-piece uniform package. This is actually a registration under Starlights.

At Katy United, Starlights athletes are coached by trained, experienced, and USAV-certified coaches who are passionate about teaching the game and creating a positive experience for young athletes.

All coaches complete:

• SafeSport training
• Background checks
• Misconduct awareness education

This allows families to feel confident knowing their athletes are learning in a safe, structured, and supportive environment while parents can relax and enjoy watching their athletes learn, grow, and build confidence on the court.

KU Starlights Academy & Mini-Stars Refund Policy

At Katy United, we understand that plans can change. To help us properly staff and plan for our programs, we have established the following refund policy:

• Cancellations made more than one week prior to the player's start date are eligible for a refund of the membership fee, minus a $50 administrative fee.

• Cancellations made within one week of the player's start date are NOT eligible for a refund of the membership fee.

• Parents may cancel their KU Starlights Academy or Mini-Stars membership at any time by notifying Tiffany Dagley in writing at TiffanyD@katyunited.com

• Upon cancellation, all future auto-payments will be discontinued, and no additional charges will be processed.

• No refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for previously billed membership payments, missed practices, or unused program participation.

• If Katy United is unable to hold a scheduled program due to unforeseen circumstances, Katy United will determine whether a makeup session, credit, or alternative accommodation will be provided.

This policy allows us to maintain appropriate staffing, facility scheduling, and program quality while providing flexibility for participating families.

KU Competitive Starlights Refund Policy

Competitive Starlights teams are formed through an evaluation and team placement process that requires advance planning, staffing, scheduling, and tournament commitments.

• The Competitive Starlights Team Commitment Deposit fee is non-refundable.

• If a player chooses not to participate after paying the deposit, the account holder must notify Tiffany Dagley in writing at TiffanyD@katyunited.com.

• Upon notification, the player will be removed from the program and all future scheduled payments will be discontinued.

• The deposit fee will be retained, and no refunds, credits, or prorated adjustments will be issued for the registration fee.

• No refunds or credits will be issued for missed practices, tournaments, or team activities.

This policy allows Katy United to maintain roster stability and meet coaching, facility, and tournament commitments for all Competitive Starlights teams.
